Bob Barranger

Renowned for both his commercial and artistic success, Bob Barrenger is one of today's biggest stars. In show business, since he was in his teens, Bob's career was propelled to stardom with the hit TV series - Ho Chi Minh High. Playing Gary Brocknell, the rebellious son of an American diplomat, Bob earned his first of three Emmy's. In developing his role as the teenage badminton star, Bob gained such mastery of the sport, that he actually earned a spot on the 1980 U.S Olympic Team. Bob's athletic prowess then landed him a series of starring roles in Sports films; The Ivan Lendl Story, Ironman and the box office smash - Speedskaters.

Never one to be pigeonholed by his smashing good looks or physical prowess, Bob then turned to more artistic roles with: The Harem of Benjamin Franklin and Obesity - for which he won high critical acclaim for his role as Maury - a laconic Southerner who is addicted to Deep Dish pizza and The Sally Jesse Raphael show.

This artistic high was followed by what Bob, would later call "One of the tougher periods of my life". With roles in the box office flops Bonds of Indiscretion and Stonewall, as well as the controversial Lolita 2025, which he also directed, Bob Barrenger fell out of the spotlight and into near obscurity.

Two years later, a recommitted Barrenger returned to the sport genre that made him a box office star. Spitz, in which he played the Olympic hero/ American playboy, was a commercial and critical success. An older, more rustic Barrenger had once again captured the hearts of male and female fans alike.
Following Spitz, Bob landed the biggest role of his career in Walt Price's Epic, Ghandi 2.
For his role as the reincarnation of the peaceful protestor, Bob earned his first academy award nomination.

A kind and thoughtful man, well known for his compassion and generosity, Bob is one of the most well liked members of the movie community.

Bob is a frequent member of People magazine's 50 most beautiful people.

The Old Mill is Bob's third movie with director Walt Price.
